Gardens at Wharepuke – Kerikeri-NZ
Wharepuke Gardens are 5 acres (2 hectares) of award winning subtropical gardens.
Robin Booth began a nursery on this site in 1983 on his fathers land and started developing the gardens for a park and educational experience for the public
Today the lush established garden exhibit rare and unusual plants particularly bromeliads, bamboo and subtropical fruiting plants. Many of the plants originated in South America and Asia.
Visit these gardens at different times of the year and see a variety of trees in flower or with seasonal foliage. Garden Tours with Robin are available for a charge but must be booked in advance
These “Gardens of Significance” NZGT are free to wander and are open 7 days, dawn to dusk
5 cottages are available to come and stay for a few days and make the most of the landscape. Depending on the season and availability unusual subtropical fruit might be on offer!
The plantings provide a wonderful habitat for an abundance of birdlife. We have over 30 species seen here including Kaka a native parrot rarely seen on mainland NZ.
